How does it impact the way I sell now?

The Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Intune, Enterprise Mobility Suite, Microsoft Dynamic CRM Online and Microsoft Azure products are exactly the same. This is just a business model that partners can consider when they are selling services in the cloud, where they have total control of the relationship with the customer and can add their own services to their offer.

What customer segments can I sell to you?

You can sell it to any commercial client.

What products can I sell in this program?

You can sell the vast majority of business solutions and standalone products from Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Intune, Enterprise Mobility Suite, Microsoft Dynamic CRM Online and Microsoft Azure.

What is the role of Intcomex Cloud and Microsoft?

Intcomex is in charge of billing partners, as well as their subscriptions, transactions and status. Microsoft will send direct communication to partners regarding the operation of the service, such as delivering information about a significant incident in the service or how to obtain the greatest capabilities of a service. Product communications, such as Messaging Center and service greeting information, will continue to appear within the Microsoft Ofice 365 admin client center.

How do administrator rights impact customers? Can customers choose to adjust them?

Delegated Administrator privileges allow partners to provide effective technical support to their clients. However, clients have the option to remove any or all partners who perform CSP transactions from having delegate administrator privileges. Customers can do this within their own administration portal. Keep in mind that this does not eliminate or change the business relationship that a CSP transaction partner can have with the client; it only eliminates the possibility for the partner to manage the service on behalf of the client. The CSP transactions partner is still responsible for providing customer support and complying with any other terms of the Reseller Cloud Agreement, even in the event that a customer removes delegated administrative permissions from the partner.

How does the Microsoft Data Privacy Policy work? Do my clients have the same privacy policy in this program as Open, EA, Advisor and MSPA?

Customers have the same data privacy protection, regardless of how they purchase the service (for example, whether that is through Open, EA, or directly from Microsoft). All customers enter into the same privacy policy as indicated below. This means that customers own their data, can control their data and their data are not used for advertising. Customers also need to understand the value and impact of their partner’s roles as a global administrator for their service. For a more in-depth explanation of how Microsoft protects the privacy of customer data, visit the Microsoft Office 365 Trust Center.

What if customers want to switch to a different license agreement?

At the end of the subscription period, customers can purchase services under OPEN, Advisor, or EA agreement, depending on customer needs.

What tasks can clients perform themselves within their Microsoft Office 365 Administration Center?

Customers can access their Microsoft Office 365 administration portal and perform all configuration and service administration tasks as if they had purchased directly from Microsoft. This includes the settings for Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Skype for Business, or other services that they purchased.

Microsoft’s New Commerce Experience FAQ

General

Can we transition an existing client subscription to NCE sooner than November?

Yes, you will be able to transfer current subscriptions from legacy to NCE anytime between March 1, 2022 and November 30, 2022.

When do NCE price increases come into play?

The NCE premium on monthly commitment SKUs comes into play once you move your subscriptions from legacy to NCE. If you decide to move to NCE on a yearly or 3-year commitment term, you will not be affected by the 20% premium.

Which SKUs are affected by the NCE monthly premium?

All Microsoft products are moving to NCE. If you choose a monthly term commitment, you will be affected by the 20% premium. You will also have the option to choose an annual or 3-year term which are not subject to the 20% monthly premium.

Will the margin go down for Sherweb partners on NCE? Do we get the same margin on NCE SKUs?

Margins remain the same.

Is it mandatory to migrate to NCE?

Yes, a migration to NCE is inevitable. The timeline, however, may differ on a case-by-case basis.

Which SKUs are affected when moving to NCE?

By the end of November 2022, all products must be moved to NCE. The only segments that are not included yet are nonprofit, education, and government.

Is a direct purchase from Microsoft considered to be a CSP purchase or not? Am I bound by the transfer rules if I want to take over a client’s direct Microsoft licenses?

If the client is on NCE licenses directly with Microsoft, it will very likely have the same restrictions regarding “CSP transfer” as between CSPs.

Does Microsoft’s 5% NCE discount only apply to silver and/or gold partners?

No, it applies to all partners who purchase annual licensing on NCE prior to the end of March 2022. The discount does, however, need to be added manually.

Which SKUs does the 5% Microsoft discount apply to? What is the duration of the discount?

The 5% discount applies to all annual NCE SKUs and is applicable for that first year only.

Can we reassign licenses to other clients?

You may reassign licenses to other users within the same tenant but not to clients on different tenants.

Do all seats have to be the same term? Can they have annual seats and month-to-month seats?

No, they do not have to all be on the same term. Any product, whether a plan or an add-on, comes with two subscription options: monthly or annual (and soon, 3-year). You can mix and match all types.

Can a current subscription be transferred direct to Microsoft?

If your subscription is on legacy, you may cancel and repurchase on the Microsoft direct side. If you’re on NCE, you’ll have to wait until the end of the term and then purchase on the Microsoft side.

Can a client who bought licenses directly from Microsoft then transfer to a CSP any time or are they bound in the same way as a CSP-to-CSP transfer?

When NCE is live for Microsoft Web Direct in March, the same billing model will apply to direct. This means CSP transfers from Microsoft direct will no longer happen—you’ll have to wait until the end of their term and repurchase on the CSP side.

Billing

Can you explain how the prorated process works with billing?

If you have a $30 per month license and you add a seat in the middle of a month, your next bill will show the regular $30 price for that license and a prorated $15 for the seat you added mid-month.

For annual and 3-year terms, how will license additions be invoiced?

These seat additions will follow your billing cycle. If your subscription is annual, paid monthly, the prorated amount will be on your next monthly bill. If your subscription is annual, paid annually, it will be on your next annual bill.

Annual billing is set on day 1 of the subscription purchase so if you purchase on March 3, you will be billed on March 3 annually for NCE and your Sherweb invoice will reflect this. Does this mean every time a client adds a seat, they will get a new additional bill date? No more consolidated billing?

Additional seats of an existing subscription will follow the term of the original subscription and be prorated on the following invoice. So, if you have annual billing and you add a seat 6 months in, your next yearly invoice will show a half charge prorated for the year that just passed and regular charges for your upcoming bill.

If I purchase a license a few months into my annual subscription, will the additional license be prorated to the end of my subscription?

Yes, the prorated amount will be applied on your next invoice, according to your subscription term. Adding seats doesn’t create a new subscription or a new commitment.

Do seats added during the one-year term all terminate on the same anniversary date?

Yes, if you add seats in existing NCE subscriptions mid-term, they will still all terminate on the same anniversary date.

For an existing client on a yearly agreement (starting March 1 with 20 licenses), if you add 5 licenses on June 1, will those licenses renew on March 1 or June 1?

They will all renew on March 1 of the next year.

If a client adds licenses to an existing subscription after March 10, 2022, will it be billed under legacy or NCE?

You are still able to add licenses to existing subscriptions on legacy after March 10, 2022. It’s only new subscriptions that will have to be on NCE after that date.

When a client is moved mid-month to NCE, will there be a prorated credit adjustment on the legacy SKU usage?

Yes, you won’t be double billed but don’t forget to cancel your legacy subscription(s).

Can a client upgrade SKUs (e.g., Microsoft 365 Business Standard to Business Premium) mid-term and get prorated?

While we don’t have upgrade functions yet, in the future, options for partial and full upgrades will be available. A full upgrade will follow the original term (no double billing) and a partial upgrade will start a new term that will have the same (coterminous) end date as the original subscription.

Can seats be upgraded within the term?

Yes, any product that has an upgrade equivalent will have an option to upgrade. The subscription term will remain the same (no double billing).

Can we reduce quantities within a subscription without taking a hit?

You can on legacy (at any time) or monthly NCE billing (so that seats don’t renew the next month). You cannot reduce seat quantities on annual NCE billing.

How will Dynamics 365 database and app log capacity be billed?

Annual or monthly (with the 20% premium) applies to add-ons as well.

When will new Dynamics 365 pricing become available?

Dynamics 365 SKUs will not have a price increase applied to them so they stay the same price as on legacy unless you are on a NCE monthly term which will have the 20% premium applied to it.

Getting started with Hybrid Azure AD

How can I connect my on-premises directory to Azure AD?

PYou can connect your on-premises directory to Azure AD using Azure AD Connect.

For more details, see Integrating your on-premises identities with Azure Active Directory.

How do I set up SSO between my on-premises directory and my cloud applications?

You only need to set up SSO between your on-premises directory and Azure AD. As long as you access your cloud applications through Azure AD, the service automatically drives your users to correctly authenticate with their on-premises credentials.

Implementing SSO from on-premises can be easily achieved with federation solutions such as ADFS or by configuring password hash sync. You can easily deploy both options using the Azure AD Connect configuration wizard.

For more details, see Integrating your on-premises identities with Azure Active Directory.

Does Azure Active Directory provide a self-service portal for users in my organization?

Yes, Azure Active Directory provides you with the Azure AD Access Panel for user self-service and application access. IF you are an Office 365 customer, you can find many of the same capabilities in the Office 365 portal.

For more information, see the Introduction to the Access Panel.

Does Azure AD help me manage my on-premises infrastructure?

Yes, it does. The Azure AD Premium edition provides you with Connect Health. Azure AD Connect Health helps you monitor and gain insight into your on-premises identity infrastructure and the synchronization services.

Password management

Can I use Azure AD password write-back without password sync? (AKA, I would like to use Azure AD SSPR with password write-back but I don’t want my passwords stored in the cloud?)

You do not need to synchronize your AD passwords to Azure AD in order to enable write-back. In a federated environment, Azure AD SSO relies on the on-premises directory to authenticate the user. This scenario does not require the on-premises password to be tracked in Azure AD.

How long does it take for a password to be written back to AD on-premises?

Password write-back operates in real-time.

For more details, see Getting started with Password Management.

Can I use password write-back with passwords that are managed by an administrator?

Yes, if you have password write-back enabled, the password operations performed by an administrator are written back to your on-premises environment.

For more answers to password related questions, see Password Management Frequently Asked Questions.

Application access

Where can I find a list of applications that are pre-integrated with Azure AD and their capabilities?

Azure AD has over 2600 pre-integrated applications from Microsoft, application service providers, or partners. All pre-integrated applications support SSO. For more details, see Securing access to Office 365 and other apps connected to Azure Active Directory.

Collaboration

SharePoint Online boundaries and limits

There are some limitations to the SharePoint Online service, such as site collection quotas, file upload limits, and storage limits. For details, see SharePoint Online software boundaries and limits..

What is an external user?

An external user is someone outside of your organization who can access your SharePoint Online sites and documents but does not have a license for your SharePoint Online or Microsoft Office 365 subscription. External users are not employees, contractors, or onsite agents for you or your affiliates.

How the service for external users behave?

External users inherit the use rights of the SharePoint Online customer who is inviting them to collaborate. That is, if an organization purchases an E3 Enterprise plan and builds a site that uses enterprise features, the external user is granted rights to use and/or view the enterprise features within the site collection they are invited to. While external users can be invited as extended project members to perform a full range of actions on a site, they will not have the exact same capabilities as a full, paid, licensed member within your organization.

What are the external sharing features of SharePoint Online?

External sharing features include:

  • The ability to turn external sharing on or off globally for an entire SharePoint Online environment (or tenant). Turning external sharing off at the SharePoint environment level means no documents, sites, or site collections can be shared externally.
  • The ability to turn external sharing on or off for individual site collections. This provides you with the ability to secure content on specific site collections that you do not want to be shared.
  • The ability to share sites and documents with authenticated users. Authenticated users are those who are invited to sign in by using a Microsoft account or a work or school account.
  • The ability to share documents with guest users. Guest users, also called anonymous users, don’t need a Microsoft account or work or school account to access documents. They access the document via a guest link that you or your employees give to them.

Types of files that cannot be added to a list or library

There are certain types of files that you cannot upload to a SharePoint list or a library. By default, SharePoint blocks these file types. For example, if .asp is on the list of blocked file extensions, a file called “newpage.asp” is blocked.

  • Variations of a file extension are also blocked. The following list shows different ways of representing the same file, all of which are blocked if the .hta extension is on the list of blocked file extensions.
    1. filename.hta
    2. filename.hta.
    3. filename.hta.{3050F4D8-98B5-11CF-BB82-00AA00BDCE0B}
    4. nfilename.hta::$DATA
  • The list of files that is blocked for SharePoint 2016 on-premise is different than previous on-premise versions of SharePoint. There are no blocked files in SharePoint Online and Office 365.
  • NOTE: These lists are the standard files that SharePoint blocks. Administrators can add more types of files to block. If you find file types that aren’t listed here, but are blocked, speak to your SharePoint admin or manager.

OneDrive for Business limits

OneDrive for Business Plan 1 provides 1 TB of storage space. The following plans provide an initial 5 TB of storage space for subscriptions with at least five users. If you need additional storage, you can contact Support to receive more.

  • OneDrive for Business Plan 2
  • SharePoint Online, plan 2
  • Office 365 Enterprise E3
  • Office 365 Enterprise E4
  • Office 365 Enterprise E5
  • Office 365 Education

Perpetual Software in CSP

Perpetual software in CSP is a new offer that helps the value-added reseller in each purchase scenario. Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions that provide our resellers with answers to provide more information to their clients about the Perpetual software in CSP.

What is perpetual software in CSP and what products are available?

Perpetual software is an on-premise license for Microsoft products. In CSP the perpetual software is license-only (L-only) and CSP does not include a Software Assurance (SA) option. Perpetual software in CSP enables Intcomex to now sell L-only software through CSP. This offering gives the partner the opportunity to use one program when necessary to sell a greater breadth of Microsoft products. Partners are still able to use Open License and other programs as appropriate for their customer’s business needs. A current list of available products can be found on the Perpetual Software in CSP Qualified Offer site.

In what geographies and for what customer audiences will perpetual software be available?

The availability applies to all the subsidiaries where Intcomex is located in Latin America and the Caribbean.

To which type of customers can the partner sell perpetual software through CSP?

At time of launch, only commercial pricing of perpetual software will be available. Government and non-profit pricing options are expected to be available by Q2 FY19. Keep an eye on Partner Center for announcements.

What is the recommended customer profile for this offer?

Current and new CSP customers who also require perpetual software licenses will benefit the most from this program.

Who is qualified to offer perpetual software to customers?

At this time perpetual software licenses can sold by Intcomex. Direct CSPs are not eligible to participate in this qualified offer.

Why should customers be excited about these offers?

Customers benefit through the ability to purchase and maintain a greater breadth of their Microsoft products through a single program. This makes acquisition and maintenance simpler, reducing the cost and time associated with program management.

What is the process for delivering the perpetual software and license keys?

There are two major aspects to the process related to selling perpetual software through CSP. By using ICP – Intcomex Cloud Platform that already has the APIs to the Partner Center, the partner must; 1) purchase the software for the intended end customer and then, 2) fulfill the order to the end customer by providing the customer with the product key(s) and making the software available for download by the end customer.

Does adding perpetual software to CSP replace Microsoft Open licensing programs?

No. CSP is a net new program and does not replace any current offering. Perpetual software in CSP has been created to help partners use CSP more broadly as they see fit for their customers. They should still use Open and other Microsoft volume licensing programs where they feel it is appropriate.

How does software in CSP affect EA?

Perpetual software in CSP does not affect EA in any way. Perpetual software in CSP has been created to help partners use CSP more broadly as they see fit for their customers. They should still use EA as they feel it is appropriate.

How does software in CSP affect other programs?

Perpetual software in CSP does not affect any other Microsoft program.

Is it possible to get a volume discount on perpetual software for CSP customers?

Volume discounts are not available for perpetual software sold through the CSP qualified offer. Please check Partner Center for updates.

On what CSP price list will perpetual software be included, and if it is a new price list then where will it be located?

The Software price list will be posted on Partner Center in the “Software” section of the “Pricing & Offers” page. There will be a preview (30 days in advance), current month, and previous months price list (past 3 months). The price list will be posted once a month using the standard Partner Center publication cycle of 1st of the month. Price increases will be notified via the preview price list in advance of when the change will be effective on the current price list. The price list will be published in Microsoft Excel format.

What happens if pricing changes during the term of a perpetual software license?

The cost is set at time of transaction and any price changes would apply to subsequent purchases of perpetual licenses. Billing for perpetual software is upfront and there is no coverage term for the license.

What is the minimum customer purchase commitment?

There is no minimum purchase commitment for customers purchasing in CSP.

What is the maximum customer purchase allowed?

There is no purchase maximum for customers in CSP. However, since there is no volume licensing discount option in CSP, partners should explore options for large customers or customers with existing Microsoft Volume Licensing agreements to determine the best pricing option for these scenarios.

Are there Hybrid Use Benefits for perpetual software?

Azure Hybrid Use Benefit is where a customer can bring their own on-premises Windows Server licenses covered with Software Assurance (SA) to license Azure hosted Windows Server virtual machines. Since SA is not offered in CSP, Hybrid Use Benefits are not applicable for perpetual software purchased through CSP.

25. Because there are no Hybrid Use Benefits granted for CSP license-only software, can a customer use SA licenses through another licensing vehicle and apply them to Azure VMs in CSP to get Hybrid Use Benefits?

The Azure Hybrid Benefit is available if a customer owns Windows Server Standard or Datacenter edition licenses with active Software Assurance. It is not restricted to any specific licensing program. Contact [email protected] for the most up-to-date information regarding this question.
